AS YOU SEE ABOVE MY NAME IS LAVIANCA LEDBETTER, I AM A JR. AT UNCP MAJORING IN MASS COMMUNICATIONS WITH A CONCENTRATION IN PUBLIC RELATIONS. I AM A PROUD MEMBER OF KRIMSON KOURTS INC.NATIONAL SERVICE ORGANIZATION WHERE I SERVE AS THE HISTORIAN, I AM PRESIDENT OF iNTIGUE MODELING TROUPE, MEMBER OF NATIONAL COUNCIL OF NEGRO WOMEN, A MEMBER OF THE JUDICIAL BOARD AND RECENTLY EARNED THE CROWN AS NAACP'S MS.BLACK HISTORY.

I ALSO HOLD MY CHURCH MIRACLE TABERNACLE INTERNATIONAL MINITRIES VERY CLOSE TO MY HEART, THERE I WAS A MEMBER OF THE YOUTH PRAISE TEAM , NURSERY STAFF, AMBOR BEARER AND DANCE TEAM UPON GOING OFF TO SCHOOL.

I AM AND ALSO HAVE BEEN PASSIONATE ABOUT WORKING WITH YOUTH, SPECIFICALLY YOUNG WOMEN, I FEEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY THERE ARE NOT MANY POSITIVE ROLE MODELS FOR YOUNG WOMEN AND I HOPE TO BUILD A COMMUNITY THAT WILL CHANGE THAT.

 

WHY i'MPOWERD?

 

 

The Ultimate goal is for i'MPOWERD is to become a non-profit organization that will serve young girls in middle school. I believe middle school is the stage where many young girls are trying to find where they belong and it's also the time where the most bullying takes place.

 

When I was in in middle school I fell victim of bullying and if it had not been for my mom pouring into me and being my support system I would not be the confident and driven young woman I am today.Now in college I see the results of not having that support system at a young age, I see many girls with low self-esteem; they lack confidence in their beauty and the power that they hold. With i'MPOWERD I look change that and empower women to become all that they can and more. The word in itself says... i'm powerd!

 

Right now the mission is to build a solid foundation among women to be able to accomplish the ultimate goal and that is where you come in!The college edition of i'MPOWERD Women will build that solid foundation by enriching and empowering one another through support and networking all the while developing personally and professionally so that we may become leaders and role models among these young women.
